About Our Founder
Lion Heart Global Institute was founded by Dr. Lavonya Douglas, a distinguished scholar and leader with a passion for transforming lives through education and leadership development. Dr. Douglas holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership Psychology with a specialization in African and Caribbean Mental Health, and her work is at the intersection of psychology, leadership, and cultural diversity.
With over 15 years of leadership experience, Dr. Douglas has held prominent positions, including serving as the Past President and Vice President of the Middle Atlantic States Correctional Association (MASCA). She is also the Chair of the Emerging Leaders for Program MASCA and has served as the Lead Coordinator for the American Probation and Parole Association Leadership Institute. Her deep commitment to fostering compassion, service, and excellence has shaped the mission and vision of Lion Heart Global Institute.
Dr. Douglas’s unique approach to leadership development focuses on building leaders from within organizations, complementing their technical skills with the emotional intelligence needed to lead effectively in a diverse and interconnected world. Her work has been instrumental in advancing culturally sensitive approaches to professional development and mental health support, making her a leader of leaders and a mentor to many.
